After reading "All the young Dudes" I wanted to read more of what MsKingBean89 wrote, because I liked her style of writing. I was a bit skeptical of the Alternate Universe Tag of the Book on AO3, but damn I was not disappointed and loved it. Read it in one sitting on a sunny Sunday afternoon. MsKingBean89 cannot MISS. They're physically incapable, I'm sure, of writing a bad book. Usually, the beauty of a fanfic is that they don't have to be well-written to be enjoyable. But them? They're doing the Lord's work, I tell you.

MsKingBean89 never misses! I loved this fic! I know after I finished atyd I said I'd never read a marauders fic again, but this was a modern AU so it doesn't count, does it lol
And yes, I'm putting another fic on my shelves, Idc ! This author deserves it, their writing is so good and the characterisation was *chef kiss*

loved misskingbeans writing obvs and adored the characters (especially the hints to atyd) bit brief for me though and i wanted more which i guess is a positive in some aspects? also felt a couple of the characters were 'too perfect' (james and lily) and wanted more character developments for them but i guess that's me being picky
again i never put fanfic on here because it's embarrassing but i've read this twice this year and it's my favourite thing ever so i figured it deserved the embarrassment. i love the characterisation i mean not only sirius and remus were perfect literally all of them acted exactly how i imagine. i love this so whatever i'm adding it.

How anyone could read this and enjoy it is mind blowing. Was the ending even happy? I'm not convinced they will last and they are my OTP. This sucked… they fought for 300 pages and James betrayed the shut out of Sirius.
With these kinds of stories Sirius is always screwed over. Everyone Remus has a harder life so everyone gives him a pass when he does dumb things and is horrible to Sirius, but if Sirius wants to be upset for more than like 5 minutes… either his friends or the author make

He either gets yelled at for being an asshole or the author makes him far more forgiving than Sirius really is.
1/5 on spice. 1/5 on kink. 1/5 on tears. This was disappointing and I hated it.

started reading this because i needed a happy distraction from atyd :) in the first half of the fic sirius seemed ever so slightly uncharacteristic to me, maybe bc of how different he is here from in atyd, having lots of second guesses and constantly needing reassurance. but as always mskingbean89 has done a great job crafting character development for both sirius and remus and exploring difficult topics (trauma, unhealthy relationships, etc.) also started getting into belle&sebastian while read started reading this because i needed a happy distraction from atyd :) in the first half of the fic sirius seemed ever so slightly uncharacteristic to me, maybe bc of how different he is here from in atyd, having lots of second guesses and constantly needing reassurance. but as always mskingbean89 has done a great job crafting character development for both sirius and remus and exploring difficult topics (trauma, unhealthy relationships, etc.) also started getting into belle&sebastian while reading this fic, bless ...more

I am not a huge fan of muggle AUs (unpopular opinion, I know) and that is probably the reason why I rated Dress Up In You only 4/5. I loved the writing style so much and enjoyed the story a lot. My onky problem was that I sometimes forgot that the characters were not OCs but characters from Canon (which is my problem with many AUs and the reason why I do not like them sooo much). I still finished the fanfiction in 3 days (which is fast for me) and loved every single chapter of it!
Just the most basic modern marauders fic ever, I feel like. The usual things happen, Sirius and Remus struggle have their usual personal struggles. There's heartbreak, there's sex (of course), and all the other usual ships. The best thing about this was maybe trans Marlene. I would've expected seeing a little more of bassist Remus and Sirius pining over that. I did like that Sirius was a hair dresser (stylist, sorry) it was lowkey fitting.

Actually, I had read this before I finished "All the Young Dudes". When I started sensing the upcoming tragedy, I just couldn't bear it. So, I decided to read this because at the time seemed more positive. It wasn't. It was just shorter. Don't scare! The both had happy endings. Just like ATYD, this is a beautiful and all-consuming read! MsKingBean89 has such incredible insight into human emotion and creates a really vivid sense of place; this is so much more than 'just fanfic'. Dress Up In You is great to read after ATYD as well to help with recovery - it's still heart-wrenching but more happy and optimistic overall. this book is so fantastic. I loved it with every fibre of my being, this is literally one of the best marauders au's i have ever read.

cute! this is the first thing i've read from MsKingBean and while a little underwhelmed from the way y'all hype up atyd i was not disappointed. i can't lie white dorcas gave me whiplash but it was balanced out by scottish remus. fun little unremarkable read i liked it 3/5 stars
